H.Wilson4 hr ago
A Tesla factory has been evacuated in Austin, Texas amid concerns of a possible gas leak. The Austin Fire Department responded to calls of a possible crack in a pipeline about 10am Wednesday morning. Crews had received reports of a 'hazardous materials incident' at Tesla Road, where the company's headquarters is located. 'Immediate area [is] being evacuated as a general precaution,' the department said in a statement. 'Isolation zone set up to ensure the safety of everyone working in the surrounding area.' Atmos Energy is working to get the valves entirely shut off. Commuters have been warned to expect heavy traffic in and around the area. Tesla Gigafactory manufacturers Tesla cars and is the 'main factory' for the Cybertruck. It is also the base of Tesla's headquarters, and some 20,000 people are reportedly employed at the factory. More to come.
