Texas A&M and Texas renew the Aggies' most-played soccer rivalry when the teams square off in the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown Sunday. First kick at Mike A. Myer Stadium is 6:05 p.m.

It marks the second consecutive top-15 opponent on A&M's schedule. Including last Thursday's match against Auburn, the Aggies battle two teams with a combined record of 17-1-3 heading into action.

The Aggies sport the best soccer program in the Lone Star State by every tangible measure. Texas A&M boasts 501 all-time wins, ahead of SMU (467) and North Texas (400), the only squads to reach the 400-mark. Texas A&M's .731 winning percentage is joined by only North Texas (.705) in exceeding the .700 mark. The Aggies' 28 NCAA Tournament appearances nearly matches the combined total of the No. 2 and No. 3 teams on the Lone Star list with Texas (17) and SMU (14).

Texas A&M boasts a 21-6-2 edge in the all-time series against Texas since firing up the program for the 1993 campaign. The series is tighter in Austin where the Aggies' advantage is 6-4-2. This marks the first bout as SEC brethren. Since the Maroon & White joined the SEC for the 2012 campaign, the only two meetings came in NCAA Tournament first round lay. The Aggies earned a 4-1 home win in 2019 and the Longhorns were 3-1 victors in 2022 in Austin.

Texas A&M has six shutouts through 11 matches, including blank slates by three different netminders. In the SEC opener, Sydney Fuller recorded her third shutout of the season. She owns a 1.00 goals against average in her six starts. Grace McClellan has two shutouts and Maysen Veronda recorded a 5-0 win against Lamar in the opener before a season-ending injury.

The Longhorns are 8-1-2 on the season, including a 1-1-1 league ledger. Texas is outscoring opponents 25-7 on the year and a stout defense has limited opponents to 7.9 shots and 4.2 shots-on-goal per game. The Longhorns have wins over Houston (1-0), CSU Bakersfield (4-0), SMU (6-3), Central Michigan (2-0), San Diego State (3-1), Long Beach State (3-0), Houston Christian (3-0) and Ole Miss (1-0). They own draws against Iowa (0-0) and Alabama (2-2) and a loss against Mississippi State (1-0).

Texas' Lexi Missimo leads the team with 20 points on seven goals and six assists. All-American Trinity Byars is out of action following an injury. She had 13 points on five goals and three assists in the first five matches of the season. Mia Justus has started all 11 matches in goal for the Longhorns, posting a 0.68 goals-against average and seven shutouts.

The match streams on SEC Network+ with Lincoln Rose (play-by-play) and Jessica Stamp (color) painting the picture. A radio call of the match airs on Gospel 97.3 FM in the Brazos Valley with the audio also available in the 12th Man Mobile app.
