Texas' first Primark is opening in December; 4 more on the way

Texas is about to go from having no Primark stores to five very soon, beginning with a store opening in McAllen in December.

The Irish retailer recently announced that it is opening its first Texas store at McAllen's La Plaza Mall on December 12.

First-time Primark shoppers and longtime fans will get to enjoy the 37,000-square-foot store's wide array of apparel for adults and children, homewares and beauty items for affordable prices.

Primark carries everyday essentials such as denim starting at $10 and T-shirts for $4. They also have licensed products from popular brands including Netflix, Disney, Marvel, the NFL and NBA.

The McAllen store opening will kick off at 11 a.m. Customers can enjoy grand opening festivities all weekend, including giveaways, local snacks and a local DJ spinning live tracks, according to a press release.

"As one of the fastest growing states in the country, Texas represents an exciting growth opportunity for Primark as we continue our expansion across the country," said Kevin Tulip, president of Primark U.S.

Primark has 27 stores across 11 states, primarily along the East Coast and in the MidWest. There are currently only three southern states that have Primarks. North Carolina has one, Virginia has one, and Florida has two.

In addition to McAllen, El Paso, Houston and the DFW area can look forward to getting their own Primark locations. The retailer announced that it has signed four leases in Texas with intent to open stores there. They include:

Cielo Vista Mall, El Paso

Katy Mills, Houston

North East Mall, Hurst

Willowbrook Mall, Houston

Now hiring in four cities Primark's talent acquisition team is currently recruiting for full-time and part-time roles in Texas.

"We are extremely excited for our first Texas opening on December 12th and in preparation, we're building our La Plaza team and getting ready to welcome shoppers to experience the joy that our unique combination of quality products at affordable prices brings to families, just in time for the holidays," Tulip added.

All available roles can be viewed on the Primark careers web page . They're currently hiring for positions in McAllen, El Paso, Dallas and Houston.

Sales associates are offered a base pay starting at $15 per hour and $0.50 per hour increases at six months and one year of employment.
