10th ranked FAU Basketball hosting first game since Final Four
The Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Men's Basketball, the 10th-ranked team in the nation, is all set to take on Eastern Michigan, in what is easily the most anticipated home game in program history. It’s the first home game since their incredible Final Four run last March. The campus has been buzzing all week, and students have gone to great lengths to make sure they get the best seats here tonight.
A large group of FAU students camped out all night so that they could be at the front of the line when the student section gates opened one hour before the 7 p.m. tip-off. Even the pouring rain all afternoon didn’t dampen the spirits of those hard-core owls, determined to get the best seats for the FAU basketball game, a team that captured our hearts at the NCAA Tournament.
“I want to make sure I don’t miss a home game,” said one student with a big smile.

There are high hopes that the Owls can pull off another incredible NCAA Tournament, and maybe even win it all this time. FAU returns all of its players except the now-graduated Michael Forrest. They are favored by 26 1/2 points on Tuesday after beating Loyola Chicago on the road last week. Vladislav Goldin pulled off his third career double-double in that game. The team has looked hungrier than ever.
“They’ve been in great spirits, they’ve had a hop in their step,” says head coach Dusty May. “They look fast, ugh they look athletic, and that was one of the things that really jumped out to me in Chicago, was how much intensity the guys played with.”
The Owls are looking to keep the longest home winning streak in the country alive with their 19th straight victory. We will have highlights and reactions Tuesday night on CBS12 News at 11.
