The Mason-Holt Eagles raises money for diabetic research

MASON, Mich. (WILX)—The Mason-Holt Eagles held a Paint the Club Blue Event Sunday, which helped raise funds for the Diabetic Research Center. November is National Diabetes Awareness Month.

Those who attended the event could dress up in Honolulu blue to watch the Detroit Lions play against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The blue was also in support of diabetic research.

Auxiliary President for the Mason-Holt Eagles, Helene Hendrickson, shared why they decided to host this event. "We know that 1 in 10 people in Michigan are impacted by diabetes," said Hendrickson. "Millions of dollars are spent every year on care and health care for people struggling with diabetes across the country. And so, we wanted to do something to raise awareness for diabetes and raise research funds."

Hendrickson says that they didn't have a specific goal in terms of how much money they wanted to raise, but they just wanted to help in any way possible and raise as much money as they could.
