Sports There's a Clear SEC Frontrunner After Week 6 of College Football

Just a week ago, the Alabama Crimson Tide took hold of the top spot in the SEC with a massive win against the Georgia Bulldogs.

The SEC entered Week 6 with nine teams ranked in the top 25 and five of those ranked in the top 10.

Unfortunately for the SEC, Week 6 was not as kind as Tennessee, Alabama, and Missouri all lost. The Crimson Tide and the Volunteers even made SEC history as they both lost to unranked opponents.

By the end of Week 6, the consensus was clear: The Texas Longhorns are the top team in the SEC for now.

As soon as the week came to an end, fans immediately took to social media to claim that Texas is the frontrunner in the SEC.

X user posted his updated SEC power rankings with Texas on top.

The Barstool SEC account also had Texas on top of the latest rankings.

Former NFL player Emmanuel Acho took to X after Alabama's loss to Vanderbilt and stated that Texas should've been the top in the nation.

"Alabama just lost to Vanderbilt after giving up 40 points!! This is why should've stayed the #1 team in the Nation," Acho wrote on X.

A Texas fan on X had the same thought after the wild turn of events on Saturday.

"It's so funny, all we heard for 10+ years is Texas will be the doormat of the sec if we joined," Bryson Buddahbelly wrote on X. "First year in the SEC, Texas is clearly the best team in the conference."

"So I guess it's safe to say Texas is the best team in the sec so far," a Florida State fan wrote.

"Pretty clear right now Texas is the best team in SEC," another wrote.

The Longhorns are 5-0 and had a bye in Week 6, although the schedule doesn't get any easier. They face Oklahoma in Norman and then Georgia before a road game against Vanderbilt to end October.

As it stands right now, it is hard to argue against Texas as the top team in the SEC, especially after an upset-filled Week 6 slate.
