JOLIET — Rosemaria DiBenedetto, the city of Joliet's director of media relations, issued a press release this week informing everyone that it's now time to start talking about the city of Joliet's upcoming elections on April 1st.

Joliet Patch Reflects On 2020 Elections
On April 6, 2021, Joliet Patch reported that in Tuesday's non-partisan Joliet City Council elections for three open seats, four-term incumbent Jan Quillman captured the most votes in the crowded 12-candidate race. Coming in second was Joe Clement. For the third at-large seat, 25-year-old Cesar Guerrero was beating long-time Joliet business owner Bob Wunderlich by a total of five votes in Will County, but Wunderlich pulled ahead of Guerrero by a margin of 60 votes in Kendall County, the unofficial vote totals show.
By April 20, 2021, Guerrero's campaign announced that he overcame his election night deficit of 55 votes with a strong showing in mail-in ballots that left him 15 votes ahead of Wunderlich, enough to make him the first Latino in Joliet history to be elected to city-wide office.

Simultaneous Filing Lottery:
The lottery to determine ballot order of candidates who simultaneously filed petitions to run for the above-mentioned Joliet City Council positions in the 2025 Consolidated Election will take place on Tuesday, November 26 at 8 a.m. in the City Clerk's Office located in the Joliet Municipal Building. 150 W. Jefferson Street.
