THPD looking for suspect after Friday arrest

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Terre Haute Police Department are asking the public to share information with them after an incident early Friday morning.

According to the Terre Haute Police Department's facebook post, in the early morning hours of November 8th, Terre Haute Police Department Uniformed Officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of 8th Avenue following reports of individuals attempting to steal gas from vehicles. Police also learned that the suspects had also tried to steal a vehicle in the area.

Upon arrival, officers located both the suspects and their vehicle. When officers attempted to stop them, a vehicle pursuit began, lasting a few blocks until the suspect vehicle collided with a chain-link fence, disabling it.

According to THPD, both occupants then fled on foot. K9 Pitts was deployed and immediately apprehended one suspect, William E. Long, 59, of Terre Haute. The second suspect has not been located as of the time of this release.
