Top-ranked Pitt women's volleyball, men's soccer record road victories

Pitt's two top-ranked teams in the national polls continued to dominate away from home when women's volleyball defeated No. 13 Georgia Tech on Sunday after men's soccer shut out No. 17 Virginia Tech.

Pitt volleyball (12-0, 2-0 ACC) won 25-11, 25-17, 25-8 to raise its streak of undefeated sets to 36.

Valeria Vazquez Gomez, Torrey Stafford and Olivia Babcock combined for 32 of Pitt's 40 kills against No. 13 Georgia Tech (8-3, 0-2) in Atlanta. Rachel Fairbanks recorded 32 assists, and Babcock had her first double-double of the season with 12 kills and 10 digs. Bre Kelley tallied at least six blocks for the second consecutive match.

The soccer team won its fifth consecutive match, 2-0, Saturday in Blacksburg, Va., to improve to 8-1, 4-0 in the ACC. The streak is the program's longest since the 2020-21 season and includes three consecutive shutouts. Pitt has played 275 minutes, 34 seconds without allowing a goal, dating to the second half of the 3-2 victory against Louisville on Sept. 13.

Pitt also has won eight in a row against the Hokies (5-2-1, 1-2-0).

Pitt women's soccer played to a 1-1 draw at No. 6 Stanford (10-1-1, 2-1-1) on Sunday. Keera Melenhorst scored for Pitt (7-3-2, 1-2-1).
