GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Grand Island Senior High volleyball team is set to make its second straight appearance at the NSAA Class A state championship on Wednesday. The Islanders claimed the No. 7 seed as a wildcard, after being swept in their district final against Lincoln North Star.

With their qualification, it is the first time the Islanders are making a repeat appearance at the state tournament since the 2010 and 2011 seasons. The 2024 group is led by senior Tia Traudt, a Division I prospect committed to UNLV.

Her brother, Isaac Traudt, is on the men's basketball team at Creighton. He was a standout at GISH before committing to Virginia out of high school. He transferred to the Bluejays after a redshirt season ahead of last year.

"I'm proud of her," he said of his sister. "She's probably the best to ever do it in and Islander volleyball uniform. I'm happy that she'll be able to continue in college playing. She really enjoys it and she's worked really hard. She's put a ton of time in, so I'm really happy for her."
