Trump's legal troubles likely to go away

President-elect still has criminal cases dogging him.

A hush money case in New York, an election interference case in Georgia, a federal classified documents case in Florida, and a federal January 6th case in Washington, D.C.Experts believe it's likely those will disappear or go nowhere now.

"Trump's legal team will make an argument, look, if you're in the transition if you're the President-elect, no criminal case will move forward," former U.S. Attorney John P. Fishwick, Jr. told The National News Desk.

Trump had vowed to fire Special Counsel Jack Smith if he won back the Presidency. Smith was in charge of Trump's pending federal cases, but reports indicate Trump won't get the chance to get rid of Smith. The DOJ is looking to wind those cases down before Trump takes office.

Sentencing in Trump's New York hush money case is scheduled for Nov. 26. His lawyers had previously asked for the felony counts to be overturned, and it's likely that even if sentencing were to go forward, they'd ask for a delay.

He's an elderly gentleman, has no criminal history, he's President of the United States, he's just been re-elected President of the United States, I think there's no way the judge gives him prison time but I guess anything's possible," said Fishwick, Jr.

Trump's Georgia election interference case was already on hold with his lawyers trying to remove the prosecutor, Fani Willis. She was re-elected Tuesday, but Trump's re-election likely stops the case in its tracks.
