Two Officers Struck while Working a Crash Scene

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Two police officers were hit while doing their jobs.

Colorado State Patrol said that the police officers were hit by an on-coming vehicle while investigating a crash scene.

The officers were working a property damage crash in Golden on Wednesday afternoon. "There was one officer staged in a police cruiser before the crash scene and two additional officers managing the crash site when a passing vehicle entered the scene. Both officers at the original crash site were struck and forced under the original crashed vehicle," CSP said in a press release.

One of the officers died on the scene and the other was taken to the hospital with serious injuries,

The driver that hit the officers was arrested for suspected impairment.

"Our thoughts are with the members of the Golden Police Department and the friends and families of the involved officers," CSP said.
