Two semi-trucks crash on I-80 from rain slicked roads

(FOX40.COM) — The return of rain to the Lake Tahoe region on Wednesday created slick surfaces on Interstate 80 that caused to semi-truck drivers to crash their rigs, according to the California Highway Patrol.

On Wednesday, officers responded to eastbound I-80 at Floriston and eastbound I-80 at Soda Springs for separate solo semi-truck crashes.

Each crash resulted in minor to no injuries for the drivers, according to CHP Truckee.

Images from the first reported crash at Soda Springs show significant damage to the entire truck as it appears to have crashed into a guardrail along the highway and coming to rest facing the wrong direction.

The crash at Floriston also had significant damage to the truck as it came to rest mounted onto one of the several feet thick concrete barriers along the interstate.

The National Weather Service is forecasting that there is a 20 to 40 percent chance of thunderstorms in the Sierra and foothills on Thursday.
