VILLANOVA, PA — The Uber driver who is accused of raping a Villanova University student in her dorm room is in court Friday.

Mirvan Dinler, 26, of Trappe, appeared in a Delaware County court Friday for a preliminary hearing on charges of rape, sexual assault, indecent assault of a substantially impaired person, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, recklessly endangering another person, and more crimes.

Patch last month reported the university said the incident happened inside a residence hall overnight Sept. 13 to Sept. 14.

Authorities said the victim ordered an Uber from Philadelphia back to the university after feeling ill following the consumption of several alcoholic beverages on an empty stomach.

The driver, identified as Dinler, is accused of following the victim into her room in Hovanian Hall after dropping her off at the university.

After going in her room, Dinler raped the student and forced her to perform oral sex, authorities said. Authorities also allege he used the victim's phone to send $150 to someone via Venmo.

Dinler was taken into custody Friday, Oct. 4, according to authorities. He has also been banned from the university.
