(WBTW) — The Darlington County Sheriff's Office says deputies are working "diligently" to find whoever is responsible for a series of shootings this week in the Hartsville area.

Several vehicles and homes have been hit by gunfire in the Alphabet Hill area and in the city of Hartsville, deputies said.

"These cases are currently under investigation and we would like the public to know that we are working diligently to identify the persons responsible and charge them accordingly," Sheriff James Hudson Jr.'s office said. "We have been conducting Crime Suppression Operations this week focusing on the Hartsville area where three different individuals have been arrested and charged for being in possession of a weapon by persons convicted of a violent crime. We will continue these efforts to take these individuals off the street for the safety of the citizens of Darlington County."
