ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A local veterinarian used Friday as an opportunity to show off her artistic talent with a new solo art exhibit at the Art Center of Rochester.

Doctor Sara Heslop of Pittsford Animal Hospital, who is also on-call for Seneca Park Zoo by the way, loves animals. So much so, that when she isn't seeing to their medical needs, she's painting them.

"I always wanted to work with animals," Heslop said. "I was drawn to them since I was a little kid."

She said she aims to capture the beauty of the natural world in her art.

"I grew up in the country and I spent it running a little bit wild in the woods and enjoy the nature and animals around me," she explained. "So, it was natural that I wanted to help them, and then use them as the inspiration for my free time."

Sara's artwork can be viewed in person at the exhibit, which runs through October at the Art Center.
