Volunteers unite to revitalize Martin Luther School classrooms

JOPLIN, Mo. — Volunteers came together to help bring life to the classrooms at the Martin Luther School in Joplin.

Students, teachers, church members, faculty, and staff gathered for the final day of the volunteer work days.

Volunteers spent time moving furniture, adding a fresh coat of paint to classrooms and offices, changing light bulbs, and also removing older bulletins and whiteboards.

School principal, Mollie Ramstad, says it's a way for students and teachers to connect before the school year begins – while also giving back.

"When you work on something, you work on a hard project and you have blood, sweat and tears pouring into something together – and you're a little bit stronger together after that, and that is what I really hope that our teachers, and our students, and our church members can come together as that family in Christ, during this time," said Mollie Ramstad, Martin Luther School principal.

"My wife and I sent both of our children to this school, all the way through and now that our kids are grown, it's really nice to come back into this school and help the next generation of kids to experience this place and all the things Martin Luther has to offer," said Jason Glasskey, Martin Luther School youth & families minister.

Ramstad says the goal is to have renovations ready by the start of the school year.
