Nov. 6—Democratic newcomer Angela Stroud won the race for the 73rd District in the Wisconsin Assembly with about 55% of the vote, according to unofficial results early Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Stroud, a professor at Northland College, defeated Republican challenger Frank Kostka, an Ashland businessman and Air Force veteran.

No incumbent was on the ticket after Rep. Angie Sapik, R-Lake Nebagamon, announced she wouldn't seek a second term after the Legislature adopted new district maps.

Sapik was the first Republican to represent the district in more than four decades.

And with all but a few precincts in Burnett, Sawyer and Washburn counties still untallied after midnight on Wednesday. Rep. Chanz Green, R-Grandview, was leading with 63% of the vote over Democratic challenger Jeanne Rand Bruce of Spooner.

Green was first elected to represent the 74th district in 2022.

This story will be updated when final results are available.
