Watch Live: Forum on propositions on Sanctuary City to expanding Amarillo City Council
With less than three weeks until the election, the Amarillo League of Women voters are hosting a forum.
They want to make sure Amarillo voters know about the five propositions on the ballot.
One of them has gotten a lot of attention, but the other four, which are lesser known, could change the way city council functions.
A panel of experts will break down and discuss propositions A-E.
You've probably heard a lot about Prop A. If approved by voters, it would make Amarillo a "Sanctuary City for the Unborn," essentially banning abortion-related travel in the city.
Propositions B-E have to do with city council.
Prop B would add two more city council positions
Proposition C would double city council terms from two to four years.
Proposition D would reduce the number of signatures needed for a recall election.
And Proposition E would allow council to appoint someone to fill a vacated council seat if there is less than a year remaining on the term.
