Woman found dead in Asheville: APD investigating, searching for suspect
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – The Asheville Police Department is searching for a suspect involved in shooting that happened Saturday morning and left one dead.
Officers said they responded to a welfare check on South French Broad Avenue around 11 a.m. and discovered the body of 26-year-old Makayla Lashea Harrison. Harrison was found with a gunshot wound.
Detectives said they have identified the shooter as 34-year-old Darren Lamon Clayton. Clayton is described as a black male, 6 feet tall, black hair and brown eyes, a scar on his left forearm and a pierced left ear.
Detectives are asking the public who knows Clayton's whereabouts or has additional information to come forward. Clayton is said to be considered armed and dangerous, and if seen to call 911 immediately.
