World War II Veteran Honored With Street Sign In South Brunswick Raymond Doscher, one of the first residents of Kendall Park, earned numerous decorations and citations for serving the nation.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – A World War II veteran living in South Brunswick was recently honored by the township with a street sign dedication ceremony.

The Township held a Veteran Street Sign Dedication Ceremony at the intersection of Kendall Road and Hodge Road in honor of local veteran Raymond Doscher, one of the first residents of Kendall Park.

Doscher was born in The Bronx, NY in 1920. He worked as an administrator before answering his nation's call to service in the US Army following the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Signing up for the war, Doscher was assigned to the US Army Air Corps' 870th Bombardment Squadron. The record reflects that he served with distinction and participated in numerous actions.

Doscher earned numerous decorations and citations including the World War II Victory medal, the Asiatic – Pacific Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the European - African - Middle Eastern Service Medal.

By the time of his honorable discharge in November 1945, he had achieved the rank of Sergeant.

Family, friends, and neighbors joined VFW Post 9111 for the ceremony. Mayor Charlie Carley, Deputy Mayor Ken Bierman, Councilwomen Jo Hochman and Archana Grover, Councilman Joe Camarota, along with the Kendall Park Fire Department, and the South Brunswick Police Department Honor Guard were present at the ceremony to honor Doscher for his distinguished and enduring service to the nation.
