HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - On Friday and Saturday, trucks from across the country will be making their way to Adams County Fairgrounds. Hastings Police Department Capitan Jason Haase said most truck will show up Friday, but those traveling from nearby will be in Adams County by Saturday morning.

Haase said some truck drivers make it apart of their work route, and pay $8 to participate. All funds go towards helping Special Olympians with things such as cost of travel. Law enforcement also impacts the Special Olympics with the Torch Run.

Haase said the World's Largest Truck Convoy is special because it's unique to central Nebraska; and it's one of his favorite events.

"The biggest thing is that it brings awareness to Special Olympics Nebraska and Special Olympics across the entire country," said Haase. "The convoy is just it's unique because it's something different. It's not just another golf tournament, it's not just another half marathon or 5K."

Haase said this event doesn't happen a lot and it draws a lot of attention. He adds, they want to get the community involved in other events the Special Olympics host.
