FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - An 18-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal weekend shooting.BACKGROUND: Police investigating fatal Saturday morning shooting south of downtown Fort Wayne Xavier Velez is accused of killing 18-year-old Corbin Cornett Saturday morning in the 1000 block of Huestis Ave. He was arrested Tuesday in the 1800 block of E. Pontiac St. without incident. Velez is currently being held at the Allen County Jail on a preliminary murder charge. The Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide Unit was assisted in the investigation by the Vice/Narcotics Division, Gang and Violent Crimes Unit, Aerial Support Unit, and the Allen County Prosecutor's Office.
