ST. LOUIS — A 17-year-old boy has been charged in the death of a 15-year-old, St. Louis police said Saturday.
Jamar Hamilton was shot early Tuesday outside a gas station in the Baden neighborhood of north St. Louis. He was identified by police Wednesday.
Police said Hamilton, of Glasgow Village in north St. Louis County, was found dead about 1:40 a.m. at a Speedie station at 8880 North Broadway. He had been with a group of people who exchanged gunfire with occupants of another vehicle, police said.
The 17-year-old was taken into custody Tuesday on an unrelated offense, according to police. He was charged Friday with first-degree murder, first-degree assault and armed criminal action, among others. His name has not been released because he is a minor, police said.
Another boy, 16-year-old Logan Snyder, was killed in a separate incident last week. Snyder was shot Thursday evening in the Lemay area of south St. Louis County. At least 67 children have been hit by gunfire across the St. Louis metropolitan area so far this year. Nineteen of those children have died.
