18-year-old in parked car killed in crash

DENVER ( KDVR ) — An 18-year-old was killed in a crash in Walden on Saturday.

Colorado State Patrol troopers were called to the crash at 10:14 p.m. near Main Street and Highway 125 in Walden. The town is northeast of Steamboat Springs.

According to troopers, a 21-year-old man from Steamboat Springs was driving a Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Main Street when he approached a sharp right curve. Troopers said he drove off the left side of the road into a bowling alley parking lot.

CSP said the truck crashed into two people who were in a parked car in the parking lot. Two 18-year-old females from Walden were inside the parked car and were flown to local hospitals with injuries.

One of the 18-year-olds died and the other remains in the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to troopers.

CSP said the cause of the crash is still under investigation, but the driver of the truck is cooperating.
