18-year-old woman killed after struck by multiple vehicles on Westside Parkway
CHP released more details on the that left an 18-year-old woman dead.
The California Highway Patrol said on October 31, 2024, at around 6:40 p.m., officers were called to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian on westbound Highway 58, east of Allen Road.
CHP said the crash ended with one person dead.
According to CHP, a preliminary investigation found that a 2008 Honda was traveling westbound on Highway 58, east of Allen Road, in the number three lane at about 55 to 60 mph.
For reasons still under investigation, the pedestrian, identified as an 18-year-old Bakersfield woman, wandered into the number three lane of westbound Highway 58, directly in the path of the Honda.
The pedestrian was struck by the Honda and landed in the number four lane, directly in the path of the Bentley. The Bentley subsequently struck the pedestrian.

The drivers of the Honda and the Bentley remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. It is believed the pedestrian may have been struck multiple times by unknown passing motorists, according to CHP.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead on scene.
No other injuries were noted or claimed.
Westbound Highway 58 was closed at Calloway Drive for about three hours for investigation and roadway cleanup.
It is unknown at this time if alcohol/drugs were a factor in this crash.
