Henderson Mennonite Heritage Park will host their “Country Christmas” on Saturday, Nov. 25 from 4 - 7 p.m. The entire park will be decorated with dozens of trees decked out by community volunteers, businesses, and organizations. Enjoy a stroll around the park, taking in the many festive sights and sounds. The decorated Christmas trees will be in all the buildings throughout the park for viewing. Santa Claus will be visiting the schoolhouse and handing out goodies to the kids. The Country Church will feature live Christmas music throughout the evening. Country school will be in session from 6 - 7 p.m. with Professor Larry Roberts. All children are invited to participate in some old-fashioned Christmas school lessons at the 73East schoolhouse. Hot chocolate, coffee, and cookies will be served in the Epp Barn loft during the event. Admission for the event is $10 for adults and free for kids 12 & under accompanied by an adult. The park is located 1 1⁄2 miles south of the Henderson I-80 Exit #342 on spur 93A. Shop in Downtown York on Small Business Saturday on Saturday, Nov. 25. Shop at York Chamber businesses and receive special reward bags with your purchases. The Chamber will be serving hot cider starting at 9:30 a.m. outside of their office and Wagner Decorating will have Santa ready to greet children from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. At 10 a.m. the Sun Theatre will be showing “Elf” for $1.
The Aurora Chamber will host “Come Home to Christmas” on Saturday, Nov. 25 in Aurora. This fun-filled day of activities will kick off the holiday season on Small Business Saturday. Shop Aurora from 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. The Plainsman Museum will host their Wonderland of Trees from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Santa will arrive by horse drawn wagon on the square at 11 a.m. Kids can visit “Shortstack” near the bandstand from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. and then visit Santa near the bandstand from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Christmas Character Pop-Ups will occur around the Square from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A free movie, “The Polar Express”, will be shown at the 12th Street Cinema from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Kids can once again visit Santa near the bandstand from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. Tempo Performing Arts will give a Christmas performance on the East side of the courthouse at 4 p.m. A Soup Supper sponsored by the Aurora Firemen will be served at the Fire Hall from 4 to 7 p.m. and a Live Nativity will be held on the Northeast side of the Square from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. The Grand Lighting of the Bandstand and Square will take place at 6 p.m. and a Lighted Tractor and 4-Wheeler Parade will start at 6:05 p.m. Lincoln Creek Landscaping will be selling Christmas trees on the square and Prairie Island Poppers will have their food truck on site.
