3 busy Wichita ramps closing at night into December
WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Road crews plan to close an Interstate 135 ramp and two Kansas Highway 96 ramps in north Wichita starting Monday, Nov. 4, but only at night.
The first ramp affects people heading south on I-135. They won't be able to take the ramp to K-96 or the section that goes to 29th Street North.
The other two ramps will affect drivers in east Wichita who take K-96 to I-135.

The Kansas Department of Transportation will close those ramps each weeknight from Monday through early December. The closures begin at 9 p.m., and the goal is to reopen the ramps by 7 a.m. in time for rush hour.
The map shows the closures in red. The small horizontal red line is the ramp from Hydraulic to eastbound K-96. It is currently under construction and will remain closed 24 hours a day.
The route highlighted in green is the detour for westbound K-96 drivers. They will have to take the Hydraulic exit, then turn left and follow the detour signs to get to other ramps to I-135.
KDOT does not have a detour suggestion for the I-135 ramp closure. Drivers will need to find alternate routes. Motorists are asked to use caution while driving through the area.
During the closures, workers will be demolishing some structures that are no longer in use. The crews will work until 9 a.m. daily but still hope to open the ramps by 7. The nighttime closures may occasionally take place on weekends.
The work should be finished by early December, weather permitting.
