20 Days to Election 2024: Harris makes case to Black voters in ‘Breakfast Club’ Q&A

D.Miller27 min ago

DETROIT, MI — In the latest bid to insert her campaign's message into the culture's conversation, Vice President Kamala Harris hit the airwaves this week via an iHeartRadio-produced broadcast in Detroit with Charlemagne Tha God!, whose award-winning "The Breakfast Club" program reportedly attracts an average audience of 4 million people.

Their 1-hour discussion centered on what a Harris administration would mean for Black Americans, a core demographic that both tunes into "The Breakfast Club" and political experts say will be critical for Harris if she hopes to win 20 days from now, on Nov. 5.

Among the highlights: Harris said, if elected, she would work to decriminalize marijuana on the federal level. Criminalization of the substance is something that disproportionately impacts Black men, she said.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5.

    Absentee ballot voting has begun.

And, in some communities, early in-person voting opportunities began as early as Monday, Oct. 7. Other communities plan to launch early in-person voting later in the election cycle. Check with your local clerk to identify when early in-person voting may launch in your community.

The early voting period takes place for a minimum of nine consecutive days, ending on the Sunday before an election. Communities may decide to provide additional days of early voting, up to 29 days total.
