1 dead, 17 injured when bus crashes on Arizona interstate

PHOENIX ( KPHO /Gray News) - A bus crash in Arizona has left one person dead and several others injured.

The crash occurred at about 5:30 a.m. Saturday on Interstate 10 in downtown Phoenix, according to the Department of Public Safety.

DPS confirmed one person had died as a result of the crash. Their identity has not been released at this time.

The Phoenix Fire Department reported 23 people were on the bus when the crash occurred. They said 17 of the people on board were taken to the hospital with "mostly minor injuries."

Some passengers were seen being loaded onto stretchers while others were spotted waiting outside the bus along with their pets.

No other vehicles were involved. DPS is investigating the cause.
