1 dead, 1 seriously hurt following shooting in Mint Hill, MEDIC says

One person is dead and another is hurt following a shooting in Mint Hill Thursday morning, according to MEDIC.

It happened around 7:45 a.m. on the 8700 block of Auburn Whisper Lane.

MEDIC said one person was pronounced deceased at the scene and the other person was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

It is unclear what led up to this shooting.

The Oklahoma City Police Department (OCPD) on Saturday released footage showing an officer's alleged use of excessive force against Lich Vu, a 70-year-old Asian man with bone cancer, during a traffic violation encounter in late October. A police officer arrived at the scene and issued both drivers a ticket for an improper U-turn. The impact reportedly caused Vu to lose consciousness, with the OCPD stating that the officer removed the handcuffs after the paramedics arrived.

'Full House' star Dave Coulier has been diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The actor and comedian told People magazine that he was diagnosed in October after an upper respiratory infection caused swelling in his lymph nodes, leading his doctor to advise that he get PET and CT scans and a biopsy. The actor explained, "Three days later, my doctors called me back and they said, 'We wish we had better news for you, but you have non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and it's called B cell and it's very aggressive.'"

At least 104 people have been sickened, with 34 hospitalized, in an outbreak of E. coli food poisoning tied to onions served on McDonald's Quarter Pounder hamburgers, federal health officials said Wednesday. One person died in Colorado and four people have developed a potentially life-threatening kidney disease complication. At least 30 cases were reported in Colorado, followed by 19 in Montana, 13 in Nebraska, 10 in New Mexico, eight in Missouri and Utah, six in Wyoming, three in Kansas, two in Michigan and one each in Iowa, North Carolina, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin.

A Canadian teen is hospitalized in critical condition with what is believed to be bird flu, a British Columbia health official said Tuesday. It's not clear how the teenager picked up the virus, which has been detected recently in wild birds and poultry in the province, said Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer. Henry said the teen was healthy before developing symptoms more than a week ago — initially eye redness, cough and fever — and has been hospitalized with a respiratory illness since Friday in Vancouver.
