ROCHESTER — Like is often the case, another prep soccer regular season has gone by with a blink of an eye.

Now, the real fun starts.

The postseason officially gets underway on Monday with the first round of the Section 1, Class 1A tournament. Plenty of talented players are hoping to help lead a deep run for their respective squad. With that here are 14 players — seven boys, seven girls — to watch.

The senior has taken his game to another level. In fact, he looks like a whole new player. The senior forward is second on the team with 14 goals and has also dished out three assists this year. He was especially great against Mankato East on Sept. 21, scoring twice and tallying a pair of assists in the 4-2 victory. He and Cadel Wolf (15 goals) give No. 5 ranked Mayo (10-0-2) a great duo up top.

Another one that has taken a massive leap this year is JM senior Franken. He has 15 goals and eight assists, thanks to a regular season finale that saw him net four goals and pick up two assists against Red Wing. He has the ability to score some great goals. Kevin Lowery (17 assists) and keeper David Carter are also great ones for the Rockets (10-1-4).

The senior midfielder is a steady influence for the Panthers and recently has found his scoring touch. Spaeth has scored five goals in the last four games for a talented Century squad that went 9-5-2. Keep an eye on Alejandro Fonseca as well. He has seven goals in the Panthers last five games.

Boynton can light it up for longtime coach Dave Bahr and company. He has two games that saw him record a hat trick. He has four games with two or more assists as well for the Bears (8-3-2). Ryan Hartman and Brady Boyken are having terrific years as well.

With 18 goals and 14 assists, the junior midfielder has put up gaudy numbers. He has six games with multiple goals and has four games where he tallied multiple assists. Lucas Yennie and Lukey Nelson have double digit goals as well for the Tigers (10-4-2)

The senior is arguably the top keeper in the area and maybe even in Class 1A. In 15 games, Sems has allowed just 10 goals for the No. 7 ranked and three-time defending Section 2, Class 1A champs. Seth Konik is a great one as well for PIZM (11-2-2).

The numbers for the sophomore are video game-like. Moynagh has netted 25 goals to go along with eight assists for second-year coach Eric Feil. Five games have seen Moynagh record three goals or more. Jack Broadbent, Aidan Kane and Sam Theobald have also put up great numbers this season for No. 6 ranked Lourdes (12-3-1), which has won seven consecutive games.
