Abandoned House Fire in Cook Considered Total Loss

COOK, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Authorities responded to an abandoned house fire in Cook, MN at around 3:40 a.m. Monday.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's department and the Cook Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 200 block of 1st Ave. NW in the city of Cook. There were no injuries. The house is considered a total loss.

A passerby called 911 after seeing flames above the treetops from Hwy 53.

The house was unoccupied at the time and has been since the flooding in the early summer of 2024.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Sheriff's Office with the assistance of the MN State Fire Marshals Office.
