Allen County Coroner’s Office identifies victim in Thursday evening shooting as 19-year-old man

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The Allen County Coroner's Office has formally identified the man who was killed in a shooting Thursday night on the city's south side as a 19-year-old. The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) says officers were called about a man who was shot in the area of 6000 Waycross Drive around 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 3. Police say when they arrived, they found the man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and took him to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Story continues below previous report On Monday, the coroner identified the man as 19-year-old Preston Jermere Church of Fort Wayne. His death was ruled a homicide, marking the 35th homicide in Allen County so far this year. The shooting remains under investigation at this time.
