Suspect will be extradited to Brevard County Jail where he will await trial

BREVARD COUNTY • – Cocoa Beach Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division arrested Phillip Taylor in connection to a bomb threat made against Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School last week.

On September 17, the Cocoa Beach Police Department received a report of a bomb threat posted on social media, referencing a previous school shooting threat made earlier that week.

According to officials, the school was immediately evacuated as a precaution, and multiple agencies, including the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, Cocoa Beach Fire Department, Brevard County Fire Rescue, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), were called in to assist.

"The Cocoa Beach Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division swiftly identified the suspect as Phillip Taylor, a resident of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, and subsequently, an arrest warrant was obtained," said a Cocoa Beach Police spokesperson.

"With the assistance of the Arkadelphia Police Department, Taylor was taken into custody this (Tuesday) morning. Taylor will be extradited to Brevard County Jail, where he will await trial."
