Austin Police: One person dead in officer-involved shooting in Northwest Austin

Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Northwest Austin that left one person dead, according to a Thursday morning post on X from the Austin Police Department.

The shooting took place in the 9500 block of North Farm-to-Market 620. It occurred after officers responded to an emergency call reporting an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

In an update, APD described the deceased person a "suspect." No officers were injured in the incident.

The department is holding a news conference at 11 a.m. this morning to provide more details.

Members of the general public should avoid the area near the shooting and expect road closures, police said.
