Cooler temperatures on the way this weekend
CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Western Massachusetts has been seeing well above average temperatures, but some cooler weather is on the way for the weekend.
Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee saw the warmest temperature on record for November on Wednesday with the high temperature hitting 83 degrees. The biggest factor in why it is so warm is this large ridge in the jet stream in the east which is allowing all this warm air from the south to be pumped into the region.
Tropical Storm Rafael expected to become hurricane
Over the next few days, we will see a trough develop which is a dip in the jet stream and that will cool us back into the 50s for the weekend. It will continue to look mostly dry over the next 7 days which will unfortunately keep the brush fire risk up and the drought will continue to get worse.
