Beloved Italian market on College Hill opens 2nd location in Palmer Township

Giacomo's Italian Market and Grille on College Hill, a favored place by locals looking to grab a cheesesteak, has expanded to a second location.

The owners of Giacomo's opened their new shop at 4041 Penn Highway in Palmer Township , the site of the former Miller's Paint & Wallpaper building, on Saturday.

Owner Sal Famularo said that opening second location was a long time coming .

"The goal was to always open another place. But the timing just wasn't right. With this spot, we took the leap and said we're going to do it," he previously said .

Famularo's parents each emigrated from Italy, met in the United States and opened their first Italian market in 1975 in Easton's West Ward. Their son added a grill at the original business. They sold the West Ward site not long after opening on College Hill.

Giacomo's has served homemade Italian specialties such as sausage, brasciole, meatballs, sauces, pasta, ravioli, and cannoli since 2003 at 700 Cattell St. in Easton.

Famularo's parents still help their son prepare Old World foods with the recipes each brought from their homes in Sicily and a village near Naples.

The retail offerings will be fewer at the new location because it's smaller. The College Hill restaurant seats about 40. The new spot will seat about 24.
