Brick chunking leads to felony charge
TUPELO – Allegedly throwing a brick through the front window of a Tupelo store lead a man to be arrested on vandalism charges.
Tupelo police responded to the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 316 South Gloster Street Oct. 7, in reference to damaged property. The responding officers were told that an individual, who had been previously banned from the business, was inside the store and shoplifting. Store employees confronted the man, who left but not before throwing a brick, which broke a store window.
Shuntez D. Johnson, 30, of Tupelo, was arrested on misdemeanor charges Oct. 25 and booked into the Lee County Jail. When the investigation determined he was responsible for the store damage, he was also charged with felony malicious mischief on Nov. 6.
During his initial appearance, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Harry Sumner set his bond at $5,000.
