Cardiff schools close after major water main bursts

S.Wilson39 min ago
Ten schools in Cardiff have been forced to shut after a water main burst.

The faulty water main is in Fairwater and is affecting the Pentrebane, Ely and Danescourt areas.

Welsh Water has warned that people in the affected areas may have low pressure or complete loss of their water supply.

The company apologised for the inconvenience and said engineers were working to fix it, but has not said when the water supply will return.

Welsh Water's Lee MacGregor said: "We are messaging customers who may have no water or low pressure and will be continuing to keep everyone informed."

The company also said it would be setting up bottled water stations in the affected areas and delivering water to customers on the priority service register .

Cardiff council parents at the affected schools had been contacted directly.
