Carjacking Suspects Arrested After Police Chase In Norcross Two men were accused of robbing someone at gunpoint, driving off in that person's car and leading a police chase before crashing.

NORCROSS, GA — A recent police chase ended with the arrest of two men suspected of carjacking in the 900 block of Seasons Parkway, Gwinnett County Police said Thursday.

Police said the alleged carjacking occurred on Oct. 18 in unincorporated Norcross.

The two men were accused of robbing a person who was sitting in a parked car at gunpoint. Police said the men tapped on the windshield with the gun and told him to get out of the car.

When the driver left the car, one of the two men searched his pockets and took his car keys and cellphone, police said.

The accused men then fled the scene in the driver's car, police said. About an hour later, Aviation Unit officers found the stolen car near Singleton and Harbins roads, police said.

The men fled from officers, prompting a short chase, but lost control and crashed down an embankment, police said. They were arrested without incident.

Police identified the two men as Amadeo Barragan-Carbijal, 25, of Atlanta, and Luis Contreras-Pineda, 23, of Norcross. They were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries from the crash.

Contreras-Pineda was charged on suspicion of hijacking a motor vehicle, aggravated assault, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain felonies, police said.

Barragan-Carbijal was charged on suspicion of hijacking a motor vehicle, armed robbery, aggravated assault, fleeing or attempting to elude for a felony offense and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain felonies, police said.

They were both booked into the Gwinnett County Jail, police said.
