The intersection of Carlisle Springs Road, or Route 34, and North Hanover Street, or Route 11, will close Thursday so crews can work on utility lines along the railroad tracks, Carlisle Borough officials announced.

According to the borough's website , the closure is expected to last about seven to 10 days.

Motorists can follow detour signs to Clay Street or use Cavalry Road as a detour throughout this period.

The work comes as part of the final phase of the Carlisle Connectivity Project , designed to realign the intersection of Carlisle Springs Road and North Hanover Street, as well as install a five-point roundabout at the intersection of North Hanover Street, Penn Street and Fairground Avenue.

Construction began in May and is expected to conclude by the end of next year.

Previous phases in the project have included the extension of A, B, C and D streets from Fairground Avenue to Carlisle Springs Road, and the installation of roundabouts at B Street and Fairground Avenue and B Street and North College Street.
