CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) — Coastal Carolina quarterback Doran "DJ" Moore was dismissed from the team after his October arrest, head coach Tim Beck said Wednesday during a news conference.

Moore, who has not taken a snap this season, was arrested by Coastal Carolina police on Oct. 17. He was charged with simple possession of marijuana and carrying or displaying a firearm in public buildings or adjacent areas. Online records show he was released the next day on a $2,115 bond.

Moore committed to the Chanticleers on April 9, 2023 , months after Beck was hired. He was rated as a three-star recruit by several sites and was rated as the No.25 quarterback in the high school class of 2024 by ESPN.

In late March 2023, Beck said Coastal Carolina was working to "educate and encourage our players to make the right choices," after two players were arrested within one week.

News13 on Thursday requested the incident report and arrest warrant for Moore's arrest from Coastal Carolina police. The Chanticleers are currently 5-4 overall and 2-3 in Sun Belt play with a road matchup against Marshall looming on Saturday.
