Consumers Energy postpones outage system update due to weather
LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Consumers Energy's power outage system update has been postponed due to potential high winds Monday night and Tuesday morning, according to a news release from the company.
The update was originally scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Monday and extend as late as 3 p.m. Tuesday. However, the company says an incoming storm could bring wind gusts of more than 40 mph to western and northern Michigan.
During the upgrade, customers would not be able to access outage information, receive outage notifications, or access any outage information from any of the systems. Instead, they would have to contact Consumers Energy via phone.
To ensure residents have access to information about potential outages during the storm, the company decided to postpone the update.
A release from Consumer's Energy says that the upgrade's future timing will be announced later.
