D.Martin24 min ago

Stafford County Sheriff's Deputy N.J. Amato responded around 12:50 a.m. for the report of a single-vehicle crash in the area of Kings Highway and Naomi Road, according to reports. Investigating the scene, Amato determined that a Mazda had left the roadway and ended up in a ditch. No one was reported injured.

The vehicle's driver told Amato that he had just come from his home, which was "less than a mile" away, according to the police report. However, the deputy ascertained that wasn't the case. The man actually resides in Chesterfield.

Amato also noticed signs of intoxication from the driver, who admitted to consuming beer earlier while he was playing bingo, according to the report.

The driver was arrested and charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content greater than .2 and reckless driving, according to authorities. He was then held on a $2,000 secured bond at Rappahannock Regional Jail.
