Crews enter third day battling large fire in Nebraska panhandle

Crawford, Neb. (WOWT) - Nebraska fire crews are continuing to fight a blaze in the northwest corner of the state.

Officials responded to the "Bronco Fire" on Sept. 18, shortly after noon. It located roughly 11 miles from Crawford, Neb.

According to Nebraska Emergency Management, the fire is currently over 900 acres in size. Crews have still reportedly not contained the fire.

A release says that more than 100 fire personnel are battling the fire from the ground and from tanker airplanes.

Dry conditions, winds, and rough terrain are challenging crews that are trying to get the fire under control. These weather concerns are continuing into Friday, a report states.

The Chadron Volunteer Fire Department urges the public to not drive on nearby roads.
