Dade City police urge residents to leave amid flood warning

DADE CITY, Fla. (WFLA) — Due to rising water levels, a flood warning has been issued for Dade City.

Residents living near rivers and lakes in low-lying areas are encouraged to leave and seek higher ground. River flooding is possible to move toward a few neighborhoods.

According to the Dade City Police Department, dozens of roads across the city are flooded and inaccessible. Drivers are asked to safely navigate around them if they must travel.

Neighborhoods that are advised to monitor the flooding include:

  • Carver Heights

  • Mickens Harper

  • Cash Quarters

  • East Lake Park

  • The city is offering sandbags, which are available at the old police department located at 38042 Pasco Avenue. Residents are asked to bring their own shovels.
