Dolphins cornerback rips Pittsburgh Steelers safety: ‘I got no respect for it’

As blunt as ever, Pittsburgh Steelers safety DeShon Elliott is in the headlines after his podcast appearance on former teammate Marlon Humphrey's Punch Line Podcast. During the podcast, Elliott talked about his former team, the 2023 Miami Dolphins, and referred to them as 'soft as (expletive)'.

"There were some guys who were tough, but the majority of the [Dolphins] were not mentally tough individuals," Elliott said. "So to be on a [Steelers] team with a full team of mentally tough guys going against a mentally tough team ... this is going to be fun."

When he said it, Elliott was previewing the Steelers' matchup against the Ravens. Still, the statement reverberated to Miami, and many of his former teammates were unhappy with it.

Cornerback Kader Kohou blasted Elliott for saying that, especially since Elliott is on his third team in three years. Kohou believes that the moment Elliott leaves the Steelers, he will be trashing them, too, since it is something he does.

"He's not here for a reason, obviously. I don't know why he would go on a podcast and say anything crazy like that. If that's how he feels, that's how he feels. He could have went on the podcast and said what he wanted to say without trying to throw shots at us. I feel like, when he leaves the Steelers and goes to another team, he'll probably do the same thing. I got no respect for it. I didn't think DeShon was the toughest guy," Kohou said.

The Steelers do not play the Dolphins this year. They could play them at some point in the playoffs if the Dolphins, who are finally healthy, go on a late run in the season to make the playoffs with the seventh seed wide open.

However, the teams are scheduled to play in 2025 at Acrisure Stadium. Elliott will be in the second year of his deal then, and that should be a hotly-contested game after the comments.
