“Don’t Be Acting Like You a Dawg”: Mayweather Roped In as Floyd Schofield’s Father Vows His Son Will ‘Stop’ Shakur Stevenson

"You already know what I want to look for next... he talks too much," Floyd Schofield Jr. said after defeating Rene Tellez Giron via unanimous decision. 'Kid Austin' was talking about WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson , who was relentlessly trolling the 22-year-old on social media as the fight was unfolding at the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas last weekend. The Austin, Texas resident even took shots at 'Sugar,' stating, "Shakur is not Rene—Shakur doesn't have the power like Rene." However, his bid to secure the biggest fight of his career doesn't seem to be getting any closer to reality. In the meantime, Floyd Schofield Sr. has stepped in to convince the world his son would stop Stevenson."So, I'm telling you, we would stop Shakur. And we number two," Schofield Sr. said in a video shared on social media. "So what's the excuse, Shakur? Why not fight, brother?" He questioned who Shakur Stevenson had scheduled to fight, but claimed if Stevenson didn't want the challenge, "don't be acting like you a dawg and wanna fight." He even roped in Floyd Mayweather , stating, "The funny thing about you Floyd Mayweather era dudes is you all claiming to be the best, but you all didn't fight no f**king body." Interestingly, Stevenson was scheduled to fight Joe Cordina last month, but a wrist injury forced him to back out of the fight altogether. Meanwhile, he's shown interest in facing Golden Boy-promoted William Zepeda. Golden Boy's Oscar De La Hoya has also shared that if Zepeda comes out of his upcoming fight with Tevin Farmer unscathed, a Stevenson vs. Zepeda matchup could be arranged as soon as January next year. Regardless, coming back to Schofield Sr.'s comment that Stevenson hasn't fought anybody, Schofield Jr. seems to share that view. Shakur Stevenson and Floyd Schofield go at it on social media Recently, former cruiserweight champion Antonio Tarver's take on a potential fight between Shakur Stevenson and Floyd Schofield surfaced on social media. "I think a Shakur fight is a great matchup at this time... if Shakur handles a miniature tank he should be ready for the full Tank and with 'Kid's' style it'll give us a look into," he said. Stevenson was not very pleased with Tarver's perspective, so as you may have guessed, 'Sugar' gave a reality check. Responding to the comment on X, the Newark native wrote, "What type of s**t [is] he smoking? This n***a comparing the lil kids to the elites.. Can't compare mediocre skills to elite-level skills." 'Kid Austin' seems to have discovered this response, as he wrote back, stop being scared who you fought? You're not elite you are a second-place Olympian [who] fought all cab drivers. Which fight was your fight to 'elite'?" That being said, Floyd Schofield Sr. seems confident about his son's abilities against a skilled technician like Shakur Stevenson. However, it's worth noting that even against Rene, Schofield Jr. had troubles, not severe, but troubles nonetheless. Do you think a Stevenson fight is too early for Schofield Jr.? Or does the 22-year-old have a real possibility of winning as his father says?
