Driver ID'd In Hit-And-Run That Killed Navy Veteran In South Jersey The victim was a lifelong South Jersey resident who served during the War in Afghanistan, according to his obituary.

PITTSGROVE, NJ — A driver accused of fatally striking a U.S. Navy veteran on a South Jersey highway and fleeing the scene was arrested on Wednesday.

Christopher Poore struck and killed Allen Miller Jr. on Sept. 28 in Pittsgrove Township, Salem County, authorities said Sunday. Poore, 23, was charged with leaving the scene of a deadly accident and tampering with evidence.

Poore was arrested at his Bridgeton home and released with a future court date.

State troopers responded to the deadly hit-and-run at about 2:25 a.m. Sept. 28. On-scene investigators found that a white sedan was traveling eastbound on Route 40 when it fatally struck Miller and fled the scene.

Miller, 45, was a lifelong Pittsgrove resident, according to his obituary . He served in the U.S. Navy during the War in Afghanistan from 2001-05. Miller enjoyed collecting baseball cards, spending time with his nieces and nephews, and fishing on the Longport Bridge in Somers Point.
